See Yup Temple 四邑關帝廟 Melbourne
The See Yup Temple was built by the See Yup Society in Melbourne between 1856 and 2004 with financial contributions from members and Chinese communities across Australia. It continues to be maintained by the Society today and welcomes worshippers from all over Australia and overseas.

The existing building was erected in 1866, replacing an earlier one built in 1856. At that time the idea of a temple or joss house in Melbourne caused some anxiety and a number of people were at pains to declare it not a temple at all but rather a club or other secular institution. The fact that the Emerald Hill institution has always been more than a temple, incorporating (as does the Glebe Temple) the Si Yi district association (see District Societies) may have given these claims some grounds. The rebuilding and reopening in 1866 seems to have caused no such controversy.
